Description
Hello Daddy
Do you recognise me?
I'm Luke, your little man
And I am almost three.
Haven't seen you
For quite a while
And I was
Just wondering
Why no smile.
Mum, Neda, and me
We're doing okay, I guess
Doing the best we can
The yard's a mess.
Things get broke
And Mum cant fix 'em,
You see
It's a man's job
Don't you agree?
And blow it!
I am just three!
Don't go out much, anymore
Mum's been sick
An' keeps a lock on the door.
Grocery shopping,
That's all we ever do
Times are tough
How are they with you?
Mum says
I'm the man of the house
Have to be brave
He,he, She's scared of a mouse!)
But I'm not scared,
I'm as brave as can be
She says,
You're a lot like me.
Just wondering, Daddy
When you're coming home
Things aren't the same
Since you've been gone.
Mum misses you, terribly
So does Neda,
And me.
Well, guess you gotta go now
You have a lot of things
That you need to do.
I'll say bye-bye now
And maybe see you in a while.
Next time Daddy,
Please
Wear a smile.

Okay Sammy!! This isn't fair. I come here with my first cup of the day and I'm crying in it!!! You're sense of empathy is extrodinary. I do know life from that side of the fence and you've captured nuances that I almost forgot. One can't but help feel a squeeze around the heart as they read. I love how you show the pain of Daddy when he comes to see his boy! I want to ask, is this cherub your grandson? Such a beautiful child!!! EY ~Michelle~

I watched my kids go through this. The new wife actually told them they couldn't visit because "he has a family now". This broke my heart all over again. Thanks for sharing.BJ
