Description

Many thanks for all your comments and advice on my previous image. I have started to fix the ears and eyes, but they still need work and I need to fix other bits as well, like the nose and mouth. :) The above texture probably has a bit too much specularity (or maybe not, I'm not sure) but it's a work in progress anyway. And it's not the finished result I first came up with after learning about texturing the ZBrush manual last night. The initial results were actually very nice, but ZBrush crashed *twice* before I could save them. Ah well, that's another chance to do it again! :) Still, what you can do with ZBrush never ceases to amaze me :) Many thanks for viewing this image and for your comments. By the way, sorry if I'm a bit behind *again* with my browsing and my replying to messages - no home connection yet... Have a great and very creative day! :)

This guy needs some deep pore treatment. You've probably made life a little difficult for yourself with so many ridges and bumps to contend with...but the where would the challenge be?

Oh neat!!! I have tons of problems in textureing and I got to say this looks good! I don't know z-brush, but could you use come more..."blended" colors? Maybe some shading/bluring in a post-painting program? Anyway, extremly cool! I love home-made stuff!

That's awesome. Well done. As for the specularity, I'd say it's fine, but you might try to play with the noise values a little. I'd lessen the noise, make it a bit finer so the skin is alittle smoother. But I'd leave the same effect on the horns as you have now. I'd be tempted to just introduce some darker shades into the points of the ridges on the skin, to make it suggest scarring or tattoos - or even natural scaly callousing. I'd probably extend the ears out, rather than curl them over like that as it makes him look a little too... cute? And the eyes could be a slightly less pitch black, maybe introduce a dark red, or some slight colour to give it more of a sheen. These are only suggestions, and they're ony quick ideas that I have. It's good how it is and that may be exactly how you like him. You have a sculpture here that might potentially be up there with the best artists in ZBrush!

Excellent suggestions, Susan, StarGazer9 -- thank you! :) I totally agree about the ears, they're a bit cute :) The "curly" effect was actually done post-work using one of those special brushes in the ZBrush palette.

Looking good Sabine, maybe all I could suggest is to tone down the colour levels and I agree with Susan C, at the moment the skin looks almost like a leather mask...good luck and kool stuff Cheers :o)

Very good, much improved from the last image. The ears and lips are really shaping up. I would work a bit more on defining the muscles and chords of the neck. Looking good so far.

Nice update with tex.Have you tried baking the layer and painting just the material channel over the image.I like the toy plastic and jelly bean effects at this stage as it adds more depth I feel.Just a suggestion as I cant get enough suggestions myself lol.Bye cal

Wonderful texturing!!! I really love the eyes!! Dark and souless!! One minor suggestion...I know how nice it is to use the mirroring tool, saves lots of time. But when you get the model to the point you really like, you might want to turn it off, and go over it again, just to take some of the symetry away, it will look even more "Natural". Having said that, there is NOTHING natural about this chap!!! Awesome work!! You are a force to be reckoned with!!!
