Description

I took a drive after work to a area where I thought a swamp was but it goen. I remember there was one in the 70's but I guess they drain it. Or it just too dry. It below the rain fall this year of about 7 inches around here. So I drove to Lake Martin which was close by. I got out the car and took some photos and I was walking I saw this bird took off and I took two shots of it ; this is the best one. You see another bird that did not fly away in the water on the left of the water trail the other bird made.[The wings was just touching the water to make this] It was a big brown bird that all I know and it was by the little white bird that is in the water. I was going to walk over to to try to get a closer shot of the bird that did not fly but the bugs came out of the grass at each step and this dog came running up[it was by the birds at first watching them] and started to roll in the grass by me made it impostable to go forward. I had to leave for I had no bug off with me. LOL what a photo man have to get to take the photos!!!!! I just do not know what to upload lately lol. I got photo of cars, spiders, engins, swamp photos over 1000 photos of blacklights[wonder if I barking up the wrong tree there]and of people too. Thanks for the comments and people adding the swamp photos to they favorites I was surpise about that lol never can tell now days.

I do not see the birds but if is the same type of bird that hangs around turtle creek, I am always frightening them before I can shoot. I love the tree with the ferns hanging

Jock, I like it like it is...is the bird a cormorant? I don't know but am thinking from the very low stance in the water. Nice shot, my friend.

That's a pretty cool tale and I don't blame you one bit for getting back in the car. I hate biting insects....gives me the creeps...nasty mosquitos and ticks. I would have wanted to pet the dog though ;) This is beautiful...especially the silhouette look of it and capturing the white bird in the water.

Sounds like an ordeal Jock, but I do love those siloeted trees! Not an easy time of the day to be taken pictures! Bravo! BTW, with Halloween around the corner maybe some spiders would be fun! ;)

Superb composition and silhouetting in the capture, Jocko, and I always appreciate reflections! The trees project a wonderful mood ambiance, and I like the bird in the lower left, also. I'm in the same boat as you as far as what to upload. I could quit taking photos right now and still have enough pictures in my database for at least three years of uploads. I don't have any spiders or swamps, but do have a ton of cars, flowers, trees, animals, birds, people, etc.; even graffiti and fifty pictures of fire hydrants.

The bird flying is the one that makes the water movements in the lower part of the photo he is dark as the tree shadows he in lol But I read of a contest a china king had and he wanted the best temple painting was to win the kings top artist in China. One artist turn in a painting of a monk and no temple. The king saw this and say he won for all knows you see a monk and a temple was close by. The artist started a golden age in china art that still goes on today to some degree. Hiden meanings won

I always carry bug off or mosquito repellent with me especially in the woods. In this particular scary place, I would carry more than mosquito spray....lol Love this picture which has an eerie feeling. Aloha
