Description
Finally got an image of my favorite nebulae, the Horsehead nebula (coz it looks like the chess piece) and the Flame Nebula (coz it looks like a Flame). The really bright star is Alnitak, the lefthand star in Orion's Belt.
Imaging details are on the picture. Was taken with a small 80mm achromatic refractor using an Orion Starshoot CCD camera.
The Horse head Nebula is a dark cloud that is obscuring part of a bright refection nebula behind it.

Where? In the US or UK? Love the image! Amazing to think you can stand on the surface of the Earth and get such an amazing shot of a piece in a chess game between the Gods! Thanks for sharing! BJ

Thanks for the link. I truly appreciate seeing the astronomy photos here. It seems we are blessed with a few folks who are patient enough, savvy enough to get these fine images. Thanks for this one.
