Description

It is I, the MySpace junkie, whoring myself out for digital representations of friends that know nothing about me. Pimping myself for the pure satisfaction of knowing that someone somewhere thought about me, if only for a split second to write that comment that never seems to be enough. I need more friends than humanely possible, hence the miracle of the Internet. I am one of millions with my face on a page and millions of ugly flashing gifs to lighten up your day, but only make you cringe in horror and wonder why they let people design their own pages. I have convinced the few people I know in real life to become digital whores in this monotony of anti-aesthetics just to increase my own numbers. It's been five minutes since I've checked my messages, I'm returning to check them again. Nothing. Nobody loves this particular hypertext prostitute, so I will spread my HTML in hopes that someone will return the favor. I know nothing about the code I propagate, only that it produces the inane visuals I want to annoy the world with. So join me today at www.myspace.com/airlynx and enter the self-indulgent, narcissistic, ugly tumbleweed we know as the depths of HTML hell.

I first wrote: "Self-deprecation in small doses is not entirely without merit - however this self-assassination seems a little like overkill. We ALL do relatively silly things to get ourselves known - and it's harmless compared to some things people do for the same reason. I hope this piece is tongue-in-cheek. Cherish yourself a little." but then I noticed the genre "humour" ... well my heart's in the right place, though my brain's obviously in cyberspace. An excellent piece, my friend!
