Description
A small and very distant little galaxy called NGC7331 or Caldwell 30 (on Patrick Moores list of things that Mssr Messier didn't see).
This is 46 million light years away. Stunning, it might no longer be there. Immedietly to the left and another slightly below and to the left are two other little galaxies. These are actually bigger than the large galaxy you can see but they are 500 million light years away (10 times the distance of the big one here).
500 million light years, I am looking back in time to before the dinosaurs. Cool.

It is amazing to think that we can look at what may be the ghost of a galaxy that could have had thousands of civilizations, more advanced than us. That by the time it's image reaches us it has been dead longer than we have been alive. Yet it appears as substantial as ours. The paradox is mind boggling! Thanks for sharing. BJ

what i love about these shots are that you capture them on a webcam :) (well thats what you have said in a few of your previous uploads)... very interesting to think about things like that when we normally think of sight as happening instantly. thanks for sharing :)

You captured it in a fantastic way. I almost wait to see how a starship enters in the middle of it.
