Description

Meet my Dad. :) He's the guy that got me interested in photography. He's definately a pro. When I was a kid, in the 60's, he had his own dark room. Now he's gone Digital. In his hands, you'll see his new toy (Canon). This was taken one night at Dani's scrimmage games. Before the game, we went for a stroll in the park out back - what a beautiful walk that was! The picture I got of my Dad was when he was sitting inside the arena ... I'm terrible at this 2D stuff. As you can see. Hope you are having a nice weekend :) Stay warm! Shari

what kind of Canon does he have? I would say the chip did not fall far from the block because you have talent for photography and post work

Terrible? You could have fooled me, LOL! It is a great tribute and I wish him well going digital, who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Your post work came out very well in the selective coloring. The scene is also very significant with the bridge in the background. Well done!

i don't understand what makes You call him a "real photographer" (nothing against Your dad, don't get me wrong) but, what's unreal with Your pics?!!! (look at the comments You get! for me i can say I'm not fooling around with my comments. and i used to be a common pro too!)

Like second choice, I thought ohh no, not all never be as good as my dad syndrome, but when I read your text, I got to thinking, this is not a daughter that compares what she does to her fathers work. This girl is very proud of her dad. No fot the other part, your 2d work doesnt suck, theres just room for some improvment =) I guess u took the pic of your dad indoors, since there is so much yellow light, and thats whats make it feel like it dosent fit in, in the rest of the image. Hope everything is good Shari, hugz Benny

Great results, deseerves the highest rating. However, if you allow me an advice, you could still improve it. Because now, you have completely turned the background in BW, which gives some brutal effect. To my opinion, it would be better to reach a partial desaturation and have a softer result. For that, you could use an Adjustment Layer such as Channel Mixer. There are some presets which are interesting such as Sepiatone Subtle Colors. This implies that your version of Photoshop is FULLY installed and not partially, because if you have forgotten to put the complementary Resource CD in your computer (this is true for Photoshop CS and CS2) you shall not find the ".cha" (Channel Mixer) files. I have noticed that, very often, Photoshop 6 lack such files, however this function already exists (and in later versions it's evidently the case). In the case you do'nt find the Channel Mixer files, you could also use a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer and click on the button Colorize (otherwise you do'nt get good results). Both Hue/Saturation and Channel Mixer are available in the Image> Adjustment menu too, but it's preferable to work with an Adjustment Layer because it allows you to restore the original if necessary. Notice that the Layers can only be saved in an image format which allows them, especially the Psd format but also some peculiar Tiffs (multi-Layer ones). Kind regards, Edouard
