The Chronos Effect XVIII by Elgon Agis
We watched as initiate after initiate fell to the onslaught of the Amazon warriors. It was no surprise to me. Without proper training in the techniques of different weapons, they were bound to fail. The women of the world by large were just not afforded the opportunity to train in fighting and certainly not with weapons. That activity was solely reserved and relegated to the men of the world.
The Amazons rewarded those initiates who showed promise, at least tried to defend themselves and put up a fight, and were given a place near the dais, allowing them to stay and watch the remaining trial. They would undergo training after the initiation. Those that ran or did not put up a fight were either dragged away, or escorted to the edge of the village and sent on their way.
But still as I watched the Amazons fight. I noticed certain patterns to their style and method of fighting. Most had pretty much the same moves and patterns of attack. I surmised and attributed this to the warriors as having the same training and teachers.
I was curiously surprised when I heard my name called to the center of the circle. Clio and I were the only ones left to yet be tested, and I had assumed that they were saving me for last. I looked at Clio and shrugged as I gave her a little grin.
