Description
This panorama was taken from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich park, which is home of Greenwich Mean Time- The official starting point for each new day, year and millennium (at the stroke of midnight GMT as measured from the Prime Meridian). Its is also home to Prime Meridian- Longitude 0° 0' 0''. Every place on the Earth is measured in terms of its distance east or west from this line. The line itself divides the eastern and western hemispheres of the Earth - just as the Equator divides the northern and southern hemispheres. (All news to me- learn a new thing everyday :)
To the far left part of the Observatory can be seen. On the horizon the 'City' can be seen (can just make out the 'Gherkin' Building), Central is the Queens House, with behind it the buildings of Canary Wharf- Uk's tallest building being the one with the pointy top (Canary Wharf tower). To the right is the Millenium dome.
As with the view from Primrose Hill, the view over London from the Observatory is amazing.
