This is really stunningly gorgeous in an industrial sort of way. I've been waiting a long time for you to do another close-up shot, you're so good at capturing detail and finding new angles on seemingly ordinary subjects.

Gosh - Seems that laundry work was quite dangerous back then. Good thing you don't wear ties when doing the laundry. LOL Interesting capture of an age gone by. Lighting and monochrome effect adds to the age. Well done.

"Don't look for me where leaves are springing... you will not find me there, mayn schatz At the machines where lives are withered, dort'n is mayn rue platz Don't look for me where birds are singing... you will not find me there, mayn schatz I am a slave where chains are ringing, dort'n is mayn rue platz So if indeed you love me truly, then come to me, mayn lieber schatz And lift my heavy heart from sorrow, make it sweet, my resting place Mach mir zis, mayn rue platz" (partial lyrics of 'Mayn Rue Platz' by June Tabor, after a Jiddish poem by Morris Rosenfeld) Your image and notes immediately brought this song into my head. Despite the prozaic tone of the capture, the imagination still leaves room for some poetry ;o))

looking at your photo I can say we haven't gone anywhere but lost a great deal. we all are losing a sense of beauty for simple things. probably because most of beauty is made of plastic nowadays....thanks for sharing the image and your view. backlight is really specials.
