Description

AloooooHa! Howsit everyone..Hope your all cruis'n and enjoying the warmth of the Holidays. For all of you with the fire places burning, I sure miss that...put some time in the Armed forces and lived in the mainland for over 20 yrs. But for all of you that are tired of freezing all four of your cheeks, it's 78 fahrenheit and balmy here on the Big Island... Both choices are of course your preference... I shot this one the other day also....just gotta slip in another surfer. For those that don't surf, this is pretty much the make or break of surfing...if your take off is poor, it just gets worse in the next nano second. The idea here is to paddle with the wave till your board starts point down the face of the wave, then stand quickly trying to keep your weight on the back of the board so the nose doesn't pearl dive ito the face of the wave. When done right...a thing of beauty...when done wrong you do the "reef dance"....been there, done that, haaaated it~ This guy flys like an eagle and did a great job of handling this wave...this is 6' hawaiian wave, pure power.....beautiful but so dangerous. Mahalo's for all your warm comments on this series on the waves and stuff..I do appreciate the time you spend here. Aloha~

You caught something else besides the wave. A womans face just left of his right foot. The spirits are watching this guy surf. Excellent shot. Aloha

With his arms out and the stop action of wave, you really excelled in this shot Dave. Do you ever show these people and perhaps sell prints to them. I would want one for sure at this quality.

I don't mind you slipping in the surfers. They make me wish I was riding that wave...with the appropriat skills of course. Another winner from your amazing wave collection.

I was browsing your gallery. Your photography talent is awesome. I had to comment on this one. I used to live in Pupukea, Oahu. The rides that you will remember the rest of your life is nailing the take-off on a 6 footer without even paddling (just sitting on the board and shifting your weight forward right as the wave throws out) I pulled if off once or twice and lived to tell about it. That was 35 years ago at Haleiwa and I still remember every micro second of that drop. Woohoo!
