I have many dreams, mostly ones one can hardly convey in spoken language. IĀ want nature and peace around me, yet IĀ do not want to relinquish digital photography. IĀ have a Nikon D200 with a very basic lens. I had a Canon 30D too, but what a disappointment. BIO I am 55, an IT consultant and tried my hand at diamond digging, computer programming, being a network & computer technician, web designer, amateur photographer, etc. I am a man of the bush and appreciate simple things. IĀ do photography assignments from time to time. I am privileged to live where IĀ do, (map), a rural area in South Africa where I can hear the lions roar just 12 miles (20km) from where I live. I love this site and the artists uploading their work and I don't think any other site offers this varied depth in artistic skills. Piet

@ Est- I think it depends on where you grew up and who your parents are. Where I grew up the 4 colour was a big thing, a flag that brings honour and pride! I grew up being reminded constantly of who I am and where I come from, who my forefathers were and how rich my history is. So ^5 on sharing a rich and proud past with the rest of the world Oom Piet! It's good to be a white South African, even today :0))

Awsome capture showing a part of a nations' SOUL Oom Piet. "Die siel van 'n Nasie wat weer sal opstaan." Ons moet!! This picture makes me proud to be part of the "Boer" people. Thanx for sharing this with us.

I love all these commemorative occasions. I think they keep history alive and remind us of those who suffered so that we may all enjoy a better life. Brilliant image and love the selective colouring, really giving the flag centre stage.

Excellent selective colouring,a very impressive capture. The four coloured flag was new to me!! the red, white and blue is familiar to me, and Luxemburg is planning to use a new old flag in the future (instead of the red, white and light blue linked to the Netherlands when part of Belgium and Luxemburg where jointed together with the Hollanders)as announced last week. Prettige avond Groet Henk
