Description
The Empress is the embodiment of the femenine in the Tarot. While many cards traditionally depict women or have femenine aspects, The Empress IS woman. She is the Maiden, the Mother, the Crone - the Triple Goddess worshiped in Wiccan religion and every aspect of Goddess from pre Judeo-Christian-Islamic cultures of the past. She is Isis, Demeter, Hecate, Astarte, Diana and more.
Often depicted as pregnant (in decks that pre date the Rider-Waite deck which has become the basis for most Tarot decks since), she represents creation. The creation of life, of love, of art and music, of all things Earthly and Spiritual - but also of death, sorrow, loss, etc. She is the balance of life in pure femenine form.
