Description

Time for a change with this Crested Barbet: This week I was tempted to start with a short series of bird captures I made. They are representative of fairly common garden birds in central South Africa. For you enjoyment I added a link to more info and names in 3 languages and hope it is not going overboard.

South Africa has been experiencing problems with international Internet links lately and I hope it is solved soon hence my absence in the galleries.

What a weird looking bird. It almost looks prehistorical. Love the colors in this shot...especially against that muted yellow background. Composed by the book as well. #:o)

Wow, what a bird. I agree, looks kind of prehistorical to me too. Really beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing this rarity for us. Not often we can see this kind of bird in America. Aloha

What a beautiful bird!! Here in upstate New York (USA), most of our birds are primarily brown or black. Very few really colorful ones. Seems we see fewer with yellow or red each year. Anxious to see more of your S.A. beauties.
