Description

Here it is, the final Key of the Major Arcana. The journey that begins with The Fool blindly stepping into the unknown ends with the ultimate success. What that success is may mean different things to different people. For the Christian it is going home to be with Christ. For the Scientologist it may be Theta Clear. For the Buddhist it may be complete enlightment, and so on. To the occultist (the Ceremonial Magician) it is the accomplishment of the Great Work. The World means much more than the Earthly world we live upon. This is why Crowley's Thoth deck calls this card The Universe. It is the world, but also the AEther, the spiritual realm. I decided the best way to represent this in my image was to include representations of Heaven and Earth from the often misunderstood Carribbean religion Voudun (perhaps better known as Voodoo). The Serpent and the Rainbow may have been the title of a Wes Craven horror film, but both are powerful symbols in that religion. The woman is the Wiccan Goddess in all her maiden forms; she is Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Nanna and all the others working her magick for all the world.
