Description

This time the elegant shiny black plumage of the Cape Glossy Starling (Kleinglansspreeu) amidst a very competitive presence of very good bird captures this week, did you notice?
A photo can not do this bird justice as it has the most iridescent display when in direct sunlight as well as piercing orange eyes, is cocky and also very vocal.
Thank you for comments and visits to "African Red-eyed Bulbul":

Superb capture, Oom. He is a glorious fellow. I have his distant cousin's nesting on my roof. I watch them on the wires outside when I am in the bath!!!! I love these cocky little birds. They are mischievous and FUN. Beautiful work from you. Hugs. Di.

We have "plain old starlings" around here, but they are definitely PLAIN. No colors but black! ...They are "bullies" and seem to delight in attacking other smaller birds. These and crows are about the only mean, ugly birds we have in our area. Trust yours are not so vicious.

I think you've captured the lighting on him beautifully. The dark head brings out the orange eye and the sun hitting the tail highlights his colors.

I say, the eyes do stand out, almost in an arrogant manner. Nice detail and turquoise effect set against the black feathers. Wonderful avian series you're presenting here.
