Description

The Karoo Thrush (Geelbeklyster) may not be the most colorful bird around but it is a busy body ridding a garden of snails and other insects. Also one of the birds with a cocky attitude and I like to sit and watch their unique courting displays. This will conclude my short bird series and I hope you loved it too.
It is such fun to learn more about the birds all over the world.
Good luck to the people living in parts of the USA & Canada where the snow fall is expected to be very high, keep warm! Thank you for comments and visits to the previous upload:

Another elegant presentation in your avian series, my friend! I envy your knowledge of this particular subject. Maybe you used a bird encyclopedia, perused the Internet for your information, or knew all of this by heart. In any event, capital captures!

Your birds are awesome .. I'm so glad you are uploading and sharing your feathered friends of SA. Snow in Minnesota is a love/hate thing. We don't want to see it, but when it comes anyway, we're out there playing in it! It gives us something to look forward to; and that is SPRING.

Very much like a similar bird that comes to my yard, it too is very busy, turning over all the leaves in the compost heap in the back. It seems to prefer the back part of our yard, where there are more leaves on the ground from a big hedge maple. I think it is also in the thrush family, a thrasher. Aptly named! I am sorry to see the bird series ending, you have posted so many wonderful photos! Much better then the ones on the bird sites, or the bird books. I've enjoyed this so very much! Thank you.
