Description

I decided to do a sort of Norman Rockwellish sort of piece, painting the gal on the left first. As a lark, I then tried mirroring her, changing her expression a bit (well on both of them finally), and using the desaturate and color substitution to change the hair, dress color, and lipstick. I probably should have changed the lighting and shading but it was close to head-on so it fools the eye pretty well. Since the first was a sort of wallflower, I decided to go for a Goth as the "evil twin" (though if I were doing this as an extended piece, I would let the plain Jane become the evil one and the Goth be the good twin). I have to say I was a bit surprised how different a character can look with just a few very minor modifications. Perhaps I will start combing my hair after all if there's a chance of some improvement. All the work was done in my dog-eared Photo Paint (Version 8) working in XP on a PC. Yes, I've tried Painter and what not, but it just seems like I can do it all in Photo Paint -- and with the shortcuts I'm accustomed to... so why change until I absolutely have to? (Perhaps this is known as stubbornness, but I prefer to think of it as Moore's ceiling.) And, of course, I also worked on my decrepit Wacom tablet that remains held together with packing tape and a couple of paper clips, and a cracked pen (having been sat upon by one behemoth artist). Despite the wear and tear, the Wacom works flawlessly despite dropping and no little use over the years.

The transformation is amazing! What a metamorphosis. LOL@combing your hair! I have witnessed twins strive for this in real life, especially if they were forced to look at dress alike too often! :0)

If it was Hollywood, the 'good' twin would have been the evil goth when they were younger, but who then discovered that looking all innocent gives you far more opportunities for dark deeds. Respect as always to those that can draw with a pen.

I really like this. Quite a contrast in the two as it should be. The lighting is just right. The expressions, perfect, good vs. evil. OR good child bad child as my two would say.

your ability shines through...this yin and yang within us all, the more openness of expression in the goth leads me to think she has less "underlying problems" ;] (good to know a wacom can take such abuse, sometimes I forget about mine)
