Description

This is the orginal scan for ANGELS MEET This is the last remaining plaster-of-paris plaque in my possession. I made a number of similar plaques to be given as presents when I was a poorly paid father of a young family. I couldn't afford bought presents. The plaques were made as follows: [1] The plaster of Paris [or dental plaster] was mixed with water and [2] It was then set into moulds [usually flexible plastic container tops] [3] A simple hair grip [with splayed legs] or a paper clip was pressed into the still wet plaster. This made a hanger for the finished plaque. [4] When dry, the casts were removed from the mould. [5] They were painted using children's tempera paint blocks. [6] It was necessary to work extremely quickly on the large areas of colour, especially where blending is needed, since the paint dries into the plaster almost instantly. [7] Black lines completed the design. A variation

You have so much talent and patience Mike. The finish here is superb Sir. In my view, it looks like a very fine leadlit glass. Excellent Sir! Steve :o)
