Vegetation along the top right side of the wall is a bit too regular. Since you have Hexagon, I'd suggest you roughen the free blocks and take the edges off, to match the wall texture better. The block with the notch broken out of the left side is repeated on the top of the wall (reposition or use a different block). Nice job blending the algae look on the lower part of the wall without making it look uniform.

umm...what pjz said :P and....the fern looks a bit blue which makes it look odd to me, and i think the rock thats leaning against the wall should have a darker shadow on the wall

I like this piece. Especially the texture on the wall. The identical blocks on the top row are the only negative thing that caught my eye as it was repetative.

Nice job of aging the wall. Gives you a feeling of desolation. I never would have thought of using terrains for that. Even the critics learn new stuff looking at the images. :)

Interesting, I like the textures, especially the cracks in the wall, very realistic. Technical Notes --------------- The only thing I really noticed was the block against the wall, just doesn't look right to me, looks a little floaty - maybe it is a shadow issue like zollster said, I don't know, just doesn't look quite right.

I agree with the critics, I would say too that the vegetation (moss?) growing on the wall looks somewhat unreal, HOWEVER one has to keep in mind that to achieve that scene is VERY long and difficult, therefore, if a rating was available, I would give your pict the highest one. I presume that it is an old Aztec wall?

the wall is nice and worn; you it definitely conveys a sense of age. i agree with most of what's been posted so far. the softening of the edges of the blocks is the most important, imho. the wall itself seems to be made of blocks with very rounded edges, while the blocks which are exposed have sharp ones. right now the various greens in the picture are fighting one another. i think it's because each color is so isolated. it might help to have more mixing and less uniformly colored groups of plants.

It's good to see something different from the usual V4 renders for a change. I like the wall texture and the vegetation on the wall. But imo the color of the grass is a bit to bright green to look real. At first I thought there was something missing in this image, but the more I look at it, the more interesting it gets. I do agree with the comment about the repeating blocks. It could do with a bit more variation.

The greens on the ground are rather blueish, I'd suggest bringing in some yellow and brown. Booleaning terrains out of blocks is a great idea! Maybe the blocks should sink more into the ground, to give the impression of age. Another thing you could try is building the complete wall out of actual blocks, but not perfectly lined up. Tilt a bit, shift a bit. Then place a larger block with a dark soily material inside, it'll provide the grooves with rotten mortar. You could also bring some extra "life" to the foreground terrain by using a terrain (I suspect you have just textured the ground plane in this image) and paint a bit of grit and pebbles on it in the terrain editor. My personal preference for Vue terrains is to give them a "ground" material, soil, sand, rocky, often a mixture, and use a lot of plants for the vegetation. More work, but tends to result in a more natural looking terrain. The composition is good, I love the strong line flowing from right to left. The lighting is good too, and the ivy growing against the wall looks wonderful.

I've just been so busty with my pet project to remap Posette, that I haven't had time to keep up with my comments. Although I can only spare this a very quick glace, it looks to be a very good render. As far as the moss is concerned, it too looks fine to me. Whoever says differently obviously hasn't been around any ruins lately. DO keep up the good work. David P. Hoadley

I don't know enough about Vue to give any technical hints, but I'll agree with the others in that the blocks and the ivy (at the top) are obviously repeating, which jars the eye. I think your colours are fine - vegetation will have different hues from area to area and the light on the day.

Wow this is really amazing! Only thing that I notice is that the blocks on the ground are almost too uniform, the texture is the same on each one. Now I have no idea how to adjust that but maybe there's some way to rotate the texture a lil bit on each one individually for a more realistic and random quality. I like the way the wall fades off into the distance, makes you feel like it goes on forever. cheers!

I'm going with the masses here, if this makes sense. For a "ruin" the more chaotic and happenstance the better. The bottom blocks maybe if some were stacked, on top of each other like part of the wall had fallen from the top. Just a suggestion.

I'm not really familiar with Vue, but I do like this image. The more work I see done with it, makes me want to get the program one day soon.

I've used Vue terranes for modelling, too. It's not my first choice, though. I also own Hexagon but Mudbox is superior! (Try a free trial copy) This is a real good mood scene assembly.
