I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

Simply great. Beautifull Morph, good expression. I like it a lot.

What a wonderful, strong face! Tons of character! My only thing to point out is the sky falls off a little too sharply for me - I see where you're going with the negative space on the left, I think you might just make it a little more smooth and gradual. And a really microscopic thing, you might want to soften the line at his left shoulder muscle just a bit, the contrast between the cloak and skin has made the transition a little jagged. The lines around the eye make me want to rework one of my own characters a bit, that looks really marvelous! What a portrait!

Outstanding strong pose expression and composition, POV and colors are perfectly choosen (character disposition and glance directon are perfect), great piece of art i love it!

A very impressive character, pov, expression, texturing of the face and I like the sepia tone. Apollo rocks, indeed, and youve done a strong face morph. A immense appearence of the character. A little bit disturbing is the very dark area to the left where I couldnt classify what its caused by. But....really amazing and now one of my favourites.

Great face, expression and pose! Although i do agree with pjz99, the sky is a bit to strong, it draws attention from the face.

Excellent work with Apollo, very dramatic and intense image.

Thank you all. I'm slowly getting the hang of morphing Apollo. He's so flexibile it can be quite dauting sometimes. I agree with you all on the dark area to the left. The original background's gradient is obscured by the figure, which makes the darkness too jarring. I'll definitely go back and re-work this, as well as re-draping the cloak for a better fold on the left shoulder (thanks pjz99) for my personal gallery. I doubt it will warrent a re-post. Thanks again everyone! I can always count on you for useful feedback.

While I agree that the sky could be toned down a bit, your character is very well done! I haven't tried AM07 yet, since my main male characters are the three millenium guys, but from what I've seen, I'll have to give him a test spin!

Everything that I might have said in the way of criticism, has already been said; so I'll just add: Interesting render! I've noticed that you've used the character as your avatar as well. DO Keep up the good work. DPH

An excellent morph. I also question the lighting at the left but I also wonder about how the cloak is fastened. It just looks a little strange around the neck? But a great concept

Awesome image! :)

The color combination in this image is just wonderfull. So is the strength of the character. You could however make the image a bit larger on the top. His head is slightly cut off. But no biggy.
DarkPascual
Impressive work on face details. Nice morph and color...really great!!!

Thank you all for the comments. vincebagna - The texture on the cape was incredible simple. I just attached a 2D weave to the displacement node. It was then just a matter of tweaking. Lizn - I deliberatley cut the head at the top. In fact, I wish I had cropped lower! It's old-school portraiture, dividing the canvas.
