My name? Eric den Biesen, a Canadian of Dutch ancestry. I'm 46 years young, though I sometimes feel MUCH older. I generally like to model in trueSpace, though I'm learning Carrara and Hexagon as well. Not much free time for it, so anything I'm building progresses REAL slowly. :( I like to illustrate my tales of the Imperium with Poser and/or Bryce, or that story's prequel, Siren's Song, the story of the Human/Mer first Contact. Neither story is more than outline, and bits are told through the pics I do. And because it's fun, of course. :)

Looks underwater to me. Since her hair's being swept back, the bubble from her mask need to be,too. It gives a slightly out-of-kilter look to an otherwise REALLY primo looking pic that's top drawer stuff! Great work! I really like it.

Very well done, I'm impressed...Bravo!

Image is excellent. One little issue (don't know if you've every scuba dived before) but unless they're at a stop, the bubbles should be flowing behind her and up.
SoCalRoberta
This is wonderful :)

ARRRG! I conformed the bubbles to the scuba gear and assumed they'd be right! SIGH. Rule One; Never assume anything, it makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'. :) That's number one on the list. Keep em coming so I can get this as perfect as I can. :)
Bea
Well, I like this very much now :) :)

Nicely done. Good work.

Ooh, nice one. Great subject and POV. Caustics look great and enough haze to get the underwater look. Looks like fun!

Didn't see the original, but (apart from what has been mentioned) what i see here works well.

I think this is more realistic than the 1st one. This is a great job indeed, a very good picture.
stevey3d
Great idea and very well executed. Cracker!

'Underwater' pics are the hardest to get them right because everything works there in different way (reflections, shadows etc). I like this version much better, definitely more realistic :) Caustics make great effect, colors look nice and I really like that you haven't forgotten about eye reflections (or rather lack of them :P)

Oh, yeah... The overall ambiance is much more watery. Great improvement without loss of original vision.

The murk surprised me, but it works - I actually thought previous version was okay too. Nothing really wrong with either one, some tropical ocean water is extraordinarly clear. The horns and chin spike look a lot better, nice and smooth. There is an unexpected blue line here and there on horns and chin, but I can accept that as part of the character, although you might consider postworking them out if they're not intended. Lighting on the dragon's face looks smoother, but watch out for that white background item on the right that he seems to be casting a shadow on, maybe turn off shadows for just that light if that's the case; and there are some faint but visible texture lines on the coral thing up above the female. The caustics came out a LOT better, pretty believable.
Greywolf Starkiller
pjz99, not sure where the blue stripes came from. They showed up when I smoothed the horns. The shadow is from the reef overhang and is cast by the main light. I should have disabled shadows for the main light, because only the caustic light really needs shadows. The light on the dragons face, is caused by the third light of the RDNA caustics set. It is an image based light. Since I know absolutely zilch about IBL, I didn't want to mess with it yet. :)

nice improvements! i think this looks much more accurate for deep water. i'd still like to know more about how you did the background in the last one. the only thing that looks a bit out of place is the brightly lit area to the right. impressive.

Hi there. This is a definite improvement on the last one! Nothing to add to existing crits... but nice job!
Anniebel
Very nice, great improvement on the original.
DennisReed
Fantastic, and so believable! :) Bravo!
Tiari
Actually....... a slitted more serpentine pupil like a reptile might look nice, instead of round. hehe. Otherwise i like it.
giorgio_2004
The improvement is very noticeable! The image seems almost perfect to me and the round eye of the dragon makes him more friendly. A great image!
DapperMan
Nice revision! "bluing" the scene was a good move. No further crits to add now.
dphoadley
Very good! Very good indeed! Nothing compares to swimming with a close and good friend, except skinny-dipping with that close and good friend! ;=D DO keep it coming. DPH
