Description
Final version of this portrait. The look I was aiming at was mid-century documentary photography. [Edit -- blured the shadow a bit]

i like the posing and the style of the image. the man's shadow looks too harsh to me...maybe some blurring of the edges of it would help

I think the sword should be point up, a sort of "Come to Poppa!" statement. :) Nice one though.

OMG!! DUDE! That is the MAN! Muyi Macho! Billy Badass of the Bull-ring lives! The sword is PERFECT for a Matador. He isn't defending against another swordsman. He's a Matador, NOT a Gladiator! WIth the gentle blurring of the close background, a little blurring of the shadow might work. Harsh shadows go with his harsh business of fighting bulls, so I'm satisfied one way or the other. Great job! As close to perfect as I've seen.

It's amazing how a slight body turn can change the feel of an image -- I like this pose much better. I probably would have turned him the other way so the cloth was behind his body and the sword in front so his lower body is not hidden, but this is okay too. Nice work and I think you achieved your goal.

I think this is better :) :) Each image has shown an improvement. Well done

Now, that's very good! Just the pose and expression I'm used to see in "matadores". Perfect, in my opinion. My only crit, very minor crit, would go to the DOF effect on the background. I dont know what technique you used, but it seems to have horizontal scratches, especially noticeable in full-size. One technique that seems to be good for DOF in photoshop is gaussian blur, maybe you can try it.

Very good! All the shadows are now reconciled, especially on his face. I see he's wearing a very good macho sneer. Great job!

Nice improvement. Only comment is that you have a little poke through on the little finger of his left hand.

Good job, better than the last and greatly improved over the first. Well done!

Yes, i like this pose much better, it has that brooding yet aggressive ready to face the bull persona.

I also like it much and I think its a very good idea to turn this image into black-white for more reality. From my personal point of view, the groundfloor seems a bit "hard oder sharp" ( a bit hard to say it in english for me)for the eyes of a viewer when he or she is looking to your image.

Yep, that's machismo. I realize I am late in the game, but I like the way you have depth of field set quite a bit better in this version, mostly because you have the rapier coming forward out of the zone of focus. Cool :)

Yes, this is the one! He looks much more defiant here, and seems to be actually posing for the viewer/photographer. My only crit is that his left hand looks like it has a rather loose grip on the cape. But I know that hands and the gripping of non-hand sized things are a pain, esp if it's dynamic cloth (believe me!) I like that he's looking down his nose at us. Great!

This is image is absolutely fantastic, Poser is really great for this kind of work. I did one myself, and it came out beautiful. If you do Two layers in postwork, and desaturate the top one only, and then set its opacity at less than 100%, you can make a turnof the century sepia image. I tried this effect too, and was very pleased with the effect. DO keep up the good work! DPH
