I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

amazing bravooo!!!!!!

Cool character. No crits except that the right eye seems brighter than the left one though it is in more shadow. This makes it look bigger than the left eye. Okay, gotta run, late for work lol.
ClawShrimp
You're right lemur. The eye looks bigger because it is in fact slightly more open. In this particular pose, from this angle, I agree that it looks a little strange. I try and give my morphs a little asymetry to enhance realism, but it doesn't always benefit the final image. Thank you for the feedback.

Most excellent :)

what a great image...it's so good to see AM back again...thanks for sharing

Really great expressive lines across the forehead. The earlobes are a bit too spherical for me, that's about all that really bothers me, otherwise a very fine, unique character. Great use of light and the photoshop work is very fine, good job. Very evocative, the tank top shirt is a good touch.

Nice. DPH

This is amazing. A definite thumbs up on this one. Great character study ... the skin tones are rich.

I like this portrait. Very realistic. The diffrent eyes dont really bother. Thats is what makes this face so unique and realistic. The human eyes are never looks the same. Excellent work at all.

Thanks again everyone for the great feedback. pjz99, I wanted the ear lobes to be particularly large, but I do agree that they are a little too round. Without a custom morph this wouldn't have been possible with Apollo, but I could definitley have rectified this in Photoshop (using the liquify tool for instance). This image was more a test to see if the character itself was successful and well recieved. I have a very specific image in mind for this old gentleman. Watch this space! ;)

Great picture. I like the face morph a lot, great character. My only issue would be the contrast between the upper and lower lip - the upper lip looks a bit strange to me with the lines there, in contrast with the smooth lower lips. Otherwise great.
Tiari
wow, exemplary realism
Greywolf Starkiller
No crits here! Looks like a photograph. VERY nice work on this. :)

I don't have any useful critique to give you, above what has already been said but I wanted to say that I think this is fantastic! Really amazing expressive character and really well put together in black and white! Well done!
2Loose2Trek

Spectacular realism!!! Great work!!
Arthorius
Great, great great morph!!! I See both Mel Gibson and Hulk Hogan in this morph (could be the Spanish Rioja as well ;)) The eyes -however- are very close to Mel... Well done... instant favo here and I hope you release this morph at the CP forum ;) Arthorius (I should get a name change here..I know)

Thanks to everyone again for their input. Bantha - This was a real point of contention for me. I tried and tried, but couldn't get the bottom lip/chin to look right. Ultimatley I decided the image worked better without a displacement map there at all. It's not what I intended, more what I settled with. Compass/Arhorius - Coming from a master of Apollo like yourself, any praise is gratefully recieved. Love your work!

Another picture to my favourites. Great!!!
Rutra
Amazing work, very realistic and a very strong character.
DapperMan
Another great quick character portrait. You've posted wonderful work using Apollo.

Wow. Your photoshopping skills really shine through on this one. The gradient map (Im guesing) and level adjustments are beautifully done. The diffuse glow is just the right side of subtle. The depth of field is sheer perfection. Its almost photographic. It adds a real sense of realism to the image. It does have its problems. The ear lobes are spherical and the top lip is far too creased (it looks like hes got a tasche). But the good far outweighs the bad, by a long way. This is a beautiful and emotional image.

What a beautifully done face and render. So expressive!

Great portrait, the details and render are superb, also wanted to say love your characters for AM, many thanks for them.
