I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

Another nice one...!

This one is nice, but the shading of the eyeball is a bit bright for the tanned / darkened out figure

The lightening of the eyes was done purposefully to ensure the image had a focul point. As I said, not so much a study in realism. That doesn't mean this focul point was a success, as it's not supposed to jump out at you, more to subconsiously draw the viewers eye. Next time I'll tone it down a shade :).

What a fun image. really like the expression on the mouth. I don't have any objection at all to the shades used or the sharp contrast, I think that's just part of your style (which is quite cool). There is an odd little bump in the trapezoid/neck join, but other than that really a nifty character and postwork job.

Thanks pjz99. I hadn't even noticed that neck bump. I'll have to fix it before it gets archived into my personal gallery.

Nice.

I really like this. Another great Apollo render. The more I see of him so far, the more impressed I am. Great job!

This piece has it all! Great lighting. Wonderful Mood. And the neck bump looks to me to be a part of his muscularture. What's not to like? Beautifully done my friend! Cheers ;o) Michael

Great. Love his expression.

Very interesting and personal style! The light is amazing! The only doubt I have is that he seems just slightly cross-eyed... but maybe it's just a perspective effect. A great character.

Hey man, give me a break and some breath. I like very much, what you are doing with Apollo and the expressions you receive, not to forget the great characters you create. Everyone is intense and has a strong appearance. Greater than great!
Rutra
Really good expression. Unique style.

Excellent caricature, like the sepia look, very effective.
Greywolf Starkiller
Nice! Expression is very good. No crits here. :)

I really like your character portrait. He seems like a sweet fellow as long as you don't cross him. Excellent render. Bunny
SoCalRoberta
The expression is great. He looks like a kind person, so I think you made a very realistic portrait indeed.

Love this guy. The morph and expression are amazing. This really shows how far youve come with photoshop. The sepia is a brilliant choice. As is the framing. The way you brought the face out is beautifully done and subtle. The only thing Im not sure of is what seems to be a radial blur on the body (for depth of field perhaps). Other than that, its spot on. Nice work 'shrimp.

shaking my head in amazement he is truly beautiful. yes he does have that caricature feel to it but ... beautiful ... I think it is because of his eyes and the smile... he looks quite friendly, genuine and gentle. sigh quite sweet he looks. But yeah - like bpclarke said - sweet as long as you don't cross him. Cheers Tina
