wow, a real master macro :) thanks for your advice, if done what you sad, but using the colour sheme or not dosent make a divernce. Only on torning the magicclour mode on full on the display makes a big divernce ;)

Sorry Joe for deleting my earlier comment, but I may have been wrong about this beetle... I thought it was a European Cockchafer or May Bug, but more likely it's a Japanese Beetle (Popilia Japonica), imported and commonly found in the US.

Hey there buddy, cool looking bug there, thought to be honest I dont think this is a very good macro shot from you... You've got that amazing piece of glass (the 180mm macro) and putting on some other macro filters in front of it? Not very wise if you ask me (but that's only my opinion....) What's the reasoning behind that? Why not get a dedicated lense for such things like the MP-E 65mm? The dof in this is shallow and probably too shallow seeing the eye isn't in very good focus here, or you're in need of a better focusing technique? I know it's tough working with nature but what I've found with the little experience I've had is isn't not always about who can get the closest shot of the bug that counts but the clarity, compo of the overall shot that really makes the difference. Anyway I guess all the others like it so I'm kinda on my own with this I guess. But well done with the capture anyway! Hope you're keeping well n safe there. Look forward to some of your better work. #;0)

I have to agree with Short ribs as the focus is limited on the bug.that is a $1300 dollar macro lens that should do the job as with previous macros of yours. these critters kill many plants as grubworms. I got to put out insecticide before they start coming out of the ground. hope your snow has let up. it snowed in west Texas last night and we had tornados and hail here

Interesting macro and great colors on the bugger. I like the background hue as well! For the DOF - it's tough for the eye - since you have patches of unsharpness inbetween clarity. Only remedy for that is aligning the camera with the bug - to eliminate this problem arising from slightly angled shots. But I like it anyway :)

Ha Ha! LOL @ Richard and Kai! I really do appreciate your honest comment/crit. Answering the questions.. You guys know, the lower MM Lens go closer to your subject and bigger ones, will get you more further from your subject! Means.. EF-50MM Macro lens will allow you to shoot from about 30 cm. And the EF-100MM will allow you to shoot from about 45 cm. Now by adding a + macro filter to your lens no matter what macro. It will allow you to get closer and closer to you subject! But it will let you loose a lot of light tho! I guess you need a super light system moving with you so you can shoot normally without any blur or glow! Now the EF 180MM lens, is a US.$1,799.99 lens and not a $1,300. I don't know if you guys saw it or not.. But its pretty damn heavy one! And i don't/never shoot with tripod no matter what! I do have nice and kick A** ones tho! And they are staying right behind my back while writing this response. I just don't like them. That is why, imagining that little guy running down to his way, and me holding that that camera, my breath, and waiting to take a shot! LOL! The EF 180MM Macro lens without any filters added were designed to shoot from further distances! So you won't scare your subject and don't let it run away. But I am good with this tho.. Added that +1 macro filter on and got close and close to my subject. That distance was about 38-40 cm only! So i guess that is all i can tell now! :)) My hands are real tired of writing.. And hope you all got my point sigh! Still won't use a tripod :))) :P Now @ girsempa!! LoL! You wanna tell me that you wrote a comment doubting my info/posting! :P :)) No worries, you can write anything/comment the way you want..
