Hmm mixed bag of comments I tend to agree with a few here if the 180 L had IS ? Is this a new model? That would be great... I think this would have been an exceptional shot with a greater DOF and perhaps the choice of the fast shutter speed perhaps due to the bug being on the move... 5ooth of a sec may have allowed you to have gone with f8 and provided the extra few mm DOF..

My bad Dan.. The IS was a typing mistake.. And it was removed.. LOL!! I wish the EF Macro lenses had an IS option! That will help a lot specially without a tripod :) Thank you for the note tho JOE

Nice macro of this little critter Joe, I somewhat agree with some of the above statements regarding focus & DOF, other than that excellent capture & presentation Stuart

I have fascination for insects. Ive been aiming at creating hand-drawn realism of the subject, and to see such clarity in photographic form is always educating and inspiring. I like how it shows clearly differences in surface quality of the subject. Loss of detail in the darks of head area are a shame (although that could be simply this old monitor I'm using isn't great). The red-green contrasts are working lovely, and I enjoy how its picked up the flecks of green through the shell colour & reflection, and then how the reds are echoed in the grass seeds. Composition is good, I enjoy the back leg sticking up - making it a slightly animated pose :^) As for your camera gear... you make me drool! ...Di (HexagonalMandala)
