Description

This is a new version of the image, after implementing advice I got with respect to posing shadows and post work. I use Poser mainly to set up virtual models and/or scenes which are then painted in watercolor. Because the image from Poser is only an intermediate product, I dont often have images complete enough to post, but I thought I'll try this one. Comments are welcome, even critical ones, just bear in mind I may not modify the image since it is only a tool for my paintings. The aim was to display a person in an "out of place" situation. It isnt supposed to be too sad, just a dreamy "what am I doing here" feeling. I used V3 nearly unmodified except for posing. I see you made a few changes that improved the composition. Hope you'll post the finished watercolor here so we can all see it.

I actually used to use Poser for much the same reason. Life drawing classes required you to draw live models nude, in your out of class hours. So after weeks of not finding models, I looked into poser and fell in love with the program. If you practice enough It may end up not being an intermediate product anymore. =D Either way this is still a very competant first posting, you should feel proud. Job Well Done.

I like this very much. The improbable mixture of elements make it a very interesting picture. The girl is wonderfully posed, with only one slightly disturbing detail: it seems as if she's not looking at the bird, which I would expect her to be. The slightly tilted pose of the throne and trees was an excellent touch. I think it makes a very big difference in the whole image. The bird scale seems exagerated. There's a too sudden change in the floor in the background between the brown ground and the green foliage. It seems a straight line, not natural. The column standing in the middle of the debris seems to be cutting some of the pieces, which does not seem natural (I would expect the pieces to fall around the column, not through it). The lighting is simple but effective, except on the background, in the foliage, where I think there is too much light. I would expect a darker environment there, to enhance the mistery. All in all, a very good image, I like it a lot.

From the philosophy behind this image you have cought the situation very well!! For me as viewer of this image its a cold place althought you have used warm (autum-) colors. I only wonder if you really want this effect?

I love it very much. And I agree with Rutra: tilting the throne was the winning point. Actually I would have done it slightly floating in mid-air, to add another "out of place" element. Very, very good. You know what? Now I am wondering who she is and how she landed there. My "writer brain" is always searching for inspirations... :)

Left arm/hand looks a lot more comfortable :) I am wondering if you'd be able to post a capture of the finished watercolor? maybe by digital camera or something?

Looks good! And I agree. When you finish your painting, I hope you can post it. Poser, Bryce, and various modelers made it possible for me to do story illustrations, but I'm no artist. I love seeing images by those who ARE. More especially since the only painting I can do, is on a house! :)

Thank you all. Hopefully I'll do some real painting this weekend. Rutra - your points are spot on, but will be (hopefully) implemented in the painting, not here. (Except for the bird -its large on purpose, possibly also displaced from somewhere) Sivana - I am not sure if you mean the colors should be cooler to fit a cold place,or the place shouldnt be cold.Anyhow colors may change. giorgio-2004 - I like your idea of a floating throne, may include it in another version. Please feel free to write a story - your interpretation is as valid as the one in my mind.(will you let me know if you realy do?) I am flattered you want to see my painting - I hope it comes out well enough to show. I will try and post it.I am wondering if Its OK to post here since there is nothing digital in it.(Maybe it can be considered "extreme" post work?) I'll ask

good job here. i LOVE that the stones are sunk in at varying angles, as well as the throne. Only crit is that the trees in the foreground don't match the colors of the trees in the backgroud. maybe experimenting with the trees' shader nodes (assumuning you have P5 or above) could alter the colors? "out of place" is definitely captured here.
