Description

Till I have something more current, here are side by side an image from Poser and the coreesponding watercolor. The poser image was done in Sept 2006,just a month after I got poser. I think only poser 6 content was used. Background done in phostoshop. Watercolor was done in Oct/Nov 2006 using Winsor-Newton paints on Arches paper. The size of the painting is 20"x13" Criticaland non critical comments are very welcome. They will not be implemented on this image, but may help in the future. Thanks

I like your watercolor image a lot. Great how you smooth the colors together. The digital one is for me to bright. The colors to vivid. But i think this is not a technical problem ist a question of taste. Some like it , some not. ;)

I also like the water-color image much. Its just very interest to see what you can do from the digital orginal into real art!!

It's a great idea to use a digital version for the base of a painting. It probably speeds up the process very much and it helps with the general layout. Actually, I like both works. Although the general shapes are similar, they're very different in the overall feeling. I prefer the colors of the watercolor, I really like what you've done here. But in the watercolor, I would prefer (my personal taste!) if you would have more realism in the face.

Your watercolour is great. Did you reference the 3d image to paint it? I'm not sure if you're using Poser as a means to an end, or intending to produce finished works from poser, but one general tip I'd give is to use softer, less intense, but more numerous lights. There are lots of great free light sets at runtimedna.com as well as in the freestuff here. I hope to see more paintings and 3d works from you.

Both are very creative ideas. I admit I like the slate blues in the watercolor better, but the watercolors in the 3D background are also very attractive. Maybe a bit more light on the 3D face to bring out the features a bit more clearly.

There seems to be a concensus of people liking my watercolor, which makes me happy since this is the aim of the exercise for me,so thanks! Ladonna - I agree with you the colors in the poser version are too gerrish. I only included them as very general guide to what I want to have in the painting, and because I cant stand the default grey background. Sivana - I am hoping to continue posting the watercolor as well as the poser images.(Unless I get told off) Rutra - Yes,the idea was that I will get less versions I need to through away sincethey are just wrong anatomically, prespective and so on,and thus save me time, however, I am getting sucked in tothe world of poser andactually so far produced less paintings.. You may like the "partner"image,CarmenSoftShield, that I posted today better- the faceis a bit more realistic. I actually would like to do more of the semi-abstract stylized paintings but I find it hard. Karen1573, and SoCallRoberta :I did intend to use Poser just as a tool to help me in my painting, but discovered so many cool things I am very tempted to do some 3d images for themselve, and your advise would be quite usefull for that Thanks for taking the time

See, this is a good reason to try to get the finished work up so people can understand how different it is from the original render - in this case they have nearly nothing to do with each other :) I don't know all that much about watercolor, but I can appreciate the very fine technique at the top - I see some really interesting things like the big water spatter you must have blotted up some of the ink with. Glad you took the time to bring this to the Rendo gallery, maybe it will help us benchmark how to appraise your intermediate 3d stuff.
