My name? Eric den Biesen, a Canadian of Dutch ancestry. I'm 46 years young, though I sometimes feel MUCH older. I generally like to model in trueSpace, though I'm learning Carrara and Hexagon as well. Not much free time for it, so anything I'm building progresses REAL slowly. :( I like to illustrate my tales of the Imperium with Poser and/or Bryce, or that story's prequel, Siren's Song, the story of the Human/Mer first Contact. Neither story is more than outline, and bits are told through the pics I do. And because it's fun, of course. :)

Excellent work!! Great scene and top image!!

This one is very dark compared with the other one. I would have prefered something inbetween. But all in all i like this version best. Maybe some more shadows? But I think you really got it here.

Nice job. Really good character placement in the scene. They actually look like they belong there. Much better overall lighting I think. Well done!

You nailed it. Looks like a photo, almost. Never liked Poser hair. Great image.

Cooool!!!! Actually, I like dark images, so this one look really kickass!!!

Thanks all. :) Strangely, it was the semi-reflective floor that bogged the render down. It occupies about 1/4 to 1/3 of the image, yet it took about 80% of the render time. I think I'll lay off reflections with complex textures until I can upgrade the old girl so she can handle it without all that gasping and wheezing. It really sounds pitiful. :)

Gorgeous deadly duo!!

Actually, I preferred the version with more light, but it's just a personal opinion. Technically the image is perfect.

This is my favourite. I like it, it's very realistic. No crits, it looks perfect to me.

Okay, I did not see the revisions because I'm still a week behind in viewing the critique group. Having said that, i prefer the lighting of the second one because the characters, while nicely done, blend into the background (i suppose that's what their clothes are meant to do, after all). That may be preferable for a combat situation, but not always the best conditions for a portrait. But, that's just my preference. For some reason, it reminds me of the better illustrations from the older edition Shadowrun RPG books, so I do like what I see here.
