Cretaceous Aviator (animation preview) by bigbraader

You can see it here. I "wacked up" a simple webpage, so that I may share some of my stuff from there. Of course I should have an entire website dedicated to my CG work, but I seem not to be able to pull myself together and make it. Not that I lack the skills, just haven't made it :)
The still image (seperate render, not a frame from the animation) was rendered with GI in "Final", 2 hrs. render. The animation was rendered also in "Final" and the 140 frames rendered in 8 hrs. with standard lighting.
The pterosaur is the "Quetzalcoatlus" Poser model frem CP. The vegetation is strictly Vue veg-plants - in order to make the trees respond to wind I had to abandon my beloved Onyxtree, and modify some of the Vue palmtrees.
Thanks for viewing, comments always very much appreciated. (I just may go back and correct the mistyping in the title in the film *GRR*)
Have a nice day

The picture is really great, with an excellent POV and lighting. However, the animation seems a bit low-rez (I could hardly see the wind effect) and the movements of the "aviator" are not very smooth. Anyway, much much better than I could ever do! :-) Keep up!

Very nice animations. The jungle is very alive feeling.
AngieAZ
Very nicely done. The resolution could be tweaked a bit, but all in all, I think it's spectacular.

Looks outstanding! I wish I had the patience for animation.

Thanks for your comments so far. I've been reluctant to share my (not so many) animations with you, because of exactly the points mentioned above: The video quality is too poor. This has nothing to do with neither the capabilities of Vue nor mine (I feel vain enough to think G). It's very much a question of computer resources and time. It is very frustrating to have the ideas etc. then having to realize that for what you want to make, you need a hundred computers :) In fact, this goes for all the elements of animation, apart from film/image quality (render time!) it's very noticeable in the feedback process - the "trial-and-error" of fine tuning the motions etc. You have to wait hours to see if it's right in the details. Anyway, I'm not too discouraged, and I'm already setting up a new one, with dinos :) Thanks again.

Great picture and I enjoyed the animations, even if poor quality (which I agree...not your fault...just the need for more computer power! I already KNOW your talent is tops! :))

Wonderful scene you have captured the time period very well, nicely done trees and eco. The animations look fine, as you say fairly low quality but animations aren't just about quality, top work.

Excellent image! Great animation.
butterfly_fish
Completely gorgeous render! And personally I wouldn't have the patience to wait for even a low-res animation with that kind of detail to render, so good for you getting it done. I think it's fantastic!
Schnuck
Wonderful work!!!

DOM1
Nice render.

This is what it is all about, using 3D to show perspectives or things that aren't possible to show in real life. On to the animation next :D
