Description

Haven't been around so much lately, been busy doing other things. Good to be back! I made this a while ago, but wasn't sure that I liked it. Looking at it again, I thought it was OK :) I've tried to get the effect of a rainy day, without actually showing the rain (with a texture effect on cylinders surrounding the scene etc.), for two reasons: First, it's only when the rain is quite heavy that you can actually see the falling drops, lighter rain just produces a misty atmosphere, and second, the rain textures don't look good, they just ruin the picture. At least I can't make a good one, and I've never seen convincing examples in the work of others. Instead, I've made a "raindrop" bump texture (Photoshop) for the water, and if you think about it, that's often what you do if you wan't to know if it is raining: You look at the puddles for ripples! Toolbox: Vue 5 Infinite, Onyxtree, G3D "Twig" & "Grass" and Photoshop for minor postwork. House by "zippy" and wooden hut by "svenart" - thanks a lot. All plants modeled & textured by me. Rendered in about 8 hrs., "Broadcast" with Global Illumination. Thanks for viewing and for any comments you may leave. As always they are very much appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

Looks great - the misty greyness is just right for a rainy day. Raindrop ripples on pond great too. I know what you mean about raindrop streaks not looking great, but I wonder if maybe a hint of rain streaks might add something (as in the Sample scene).

Wonderful mood, atmo a greens. The water looks excellent. A few drops of water on the foreground leaves would've made it absolutely perfect. But I'm just being picky. 5+++ anyway!

Thanks for your comments so far - I really appreciate them. For "for bruno021": You're right about the waterdrops. One of the first things I did for experiments setting up this one, was to see how a "drop object" (metablob with a water texture) would behave as an ecosystem on the leaves. I couldn't get satisfying results. Unless I made them very/unrealisticly large they looked more like render artifacts than drops. So I decided to - errh - DROP that detail :).
