Description

This is the "partner" image to "CarmenSphere" http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1427672 The poser image was done in Sept 2006,just a month after I got poser,so I wasnt very knowledgeable. I think only poser 6 content was used. Her shield is a sphere primitive after a cloth room simulation. Background was done in phostoshop. I use the Poser images as virtual models for my watercolor paintings. I am presenting them side by side, here and in the previous post, to demonstrate what I take from the model (e.g. the pose and proportions the overall lighting)and what I change(e.g. background, details of textures) I often use exagerated lighting and strong contrast in the shadows to make it an easier guide for my painting. (The actual poser image was slightly different, unfortunately, cant find the exact one) The watercolor painting was done in Oct/Nov 2006 using Winsor-Newton paints on Arches paper. The size of the painting is 20"x13" Criticaland non critical comments are very welcome. They will not be implemented on this image, but may help in the future. Thanks

Fantastic work. Love your painting really very much. The digital one is great too but i think whit a more pale skin the image would looked better.

The watercolor is lovely:) I think the digital one could benefit from either more lighting on the face or, as Ladonna suggested, a paler skintone.

This is very well done. I prefer the colors from the watercolor. The mood between the two pictures is very different, at least for me. The digital one seems a bit sinister, like if the woman is evil. Her face and eyes seem to indicate that. It seems as if she's prisoner in that "bag". In the watercolor it seems to me as if the woman could have lost a loved person recently. I would love to read about your motivations with this picture.

That trick of making the sphere a dynamic cloth simulation is very cool, and obviously came out quite well in the watercolor, actually much better than the render. I also would like some info on what brought you to paint this piece, it's very cool and a bit cryptic. Fabulous technique painting the headbag.

I love the details in the painting. They really are very different images, but as you said, the Poser pic is really just an exaggerated guide. Hopefully you'll continue to post your Poser-inspired watercolors. It sounds like several of us here got sucked into Poser initially intending to use it as photo reference for illustrations/paintings.

Thanks for your comments. Obviousely I am realy pleased people like my watercolors. I am not realy that good at it yet or I wouldnt need the help of poser. Hopefully I'm improving. As for my motivation, I had a painting I did long time ago that was supposed to have several heads each in a different mood, in bubbles, in water, but they looked like heads painted on flat discs. I thought I could come back to it with the help of Poser. It is a bit better, but I need to learn more about reflections and refractions. Might need additional software. As for the differences in expressions - I didnt realy bother much in Poser. In the watercolor I dont always decide ahead of time. Amazingly, it often reflects the mood I am in. No idea how this happens.

The painting looks great. Intresting to see how you used the poser picture.
