Description

Here I am at the end of the world. That what we call Grand Isle, Louisiana. You take hyway 1 south of ne4w Orleans and keep going to the end or the road and you there. I saw this old bridge and had my oldest son stop. I had to take some photos fast for he wanted to get to where his girlfriend was. Five hours away. It was hard to pick which photo to upload but I pick this one for it show how it was made the best. As you see it was wood. I do not know how old the bridge is or how it got like this. I hope to go back there but it a five hour drive for me and a three and halve hour for my son lol. I just slow that all. Wish I got photos of the other side of the bridge . I do have one at the center but it did not come out too good. I was driveing 50 mph at the time and had to shoot thought a dirted windsheld. like I say I shot some photos here. Wish I could walk on it and take more but there was a yellow police tape across the bridge opening so I could not go on it. I do not have the money to pay for a fine or the time to spend in jail. Plus I most likely would have fell and got hurt too. The bridge do not look safe. thanks for every thing. I may be off for a wail here for a storm comeing thought now and a lot of lightness too .

Jocko, what a wonderful artist's vision you have to notice and capture so well the details, lighting, and textures of this "bridge at the end of the world"!!!

Quite a coincidence - I am Louisiana born... near Monroe - and just now having a nice cold Abita Turbodog Ale... and I'm browsing the photograpy section, and this just caught my eye... so much of the state is in disrepair, as this bridge... a nice capture of the mood!

This is a fine image. When my wife lived in LaPlace(? did I spell it right), the family would go to Grand Isle. I did not know the bridge like this was wiped out. Sad. Great picture of a sad event.... Thanks for this one, very much. Tom.

Definitely a troubled bridge over troubled waters. And it's good you didn't get into trouble by trespassing onto the unstable thing. Very good perspective, POV, DOF, lighting and detail in this capture, Jocko! Hope your son got to his girlfriend on time.

It looks like this poor old bridge got destroyed by a storm. I'm glad you didn't go walking around on it! It's a great shot though! Excellent view! (:

Wonderful shot .. I like the textures and the lighting and the shadows .. sad that the bridge is destroyed though, glad you didn't take any risks. Hope the storm coming isn't a bad one.

I heard about your storm...as it went through Houston headed your way. I love Mother Nature when she's unleashes her power. :-) This is a great shot. Do you think maybe Katrina helped to put this to rest?

It had it's time and now it has no load to carry. Walking without a cross is unsettling until you realize the light one is the cross.
