Description

I have posted this picture merely to show up with something again, besides commenting on other people's works. Quite a few things went wrong while creating this one. After losing 24 hours to two useless renderings ("bump maps of a pit") and an endless reload this picture is merely a screen dump. I had been warned against insufficient disk space for the rendering, so that may be the cause. Still, several hundreds of MB available for a 4.5MB scene file... The picture has been created in DAZ|Studio, using their Millennium Environment (ME) and their Hiro. The idea was so simple: put a MAT pose on a character, have the character pose, insert a background. One difficulty I had was in using the ME. I was afraid to lose my laborious Hiro, when I found that I couldn't get the ground covered (with tiles of green). I tried to hide that by choosing a low point of view - but now the upper edge of the ME backgound became visible, so I had to zoom in. The dark clouds were not intended, but by that time they became more applicable than Hiro's V-sign. The birds on the left are ravens by Noggin. They had to be scaled down, as they couldn't be put further to the background without disappearing through the background... I have come to advocate some interaction between foreground and background. Hiro's shirt is proof of a failed attempt. I had intended to place a charging bull away in the background, but these point of view constraints kept it behind this hill. I then experimented with mosquitos and butterflies in front. Now the only interaction left is Hiro's right hand around the tree. Another effort you can't notice anymore is my trying of use of focus (distance blur). That might have doubled with the construction of the ME. (I haven't yet studied the differences among DAZ's Millennium Environment, Multiplane Cyclorama and Woodland Realm Playset.) I'll try to find the reasons for my troubles, and avoid them in the future.

DLG :) I see a man (you) carefully exploring the bounderies and possebilities of Daz.. I like the fact you are not rushing through the program as so many of us do (me included) If you keep this up, one day you'll have great knowledge and will be asked many question by lot's of Dazneylanders.. Excellent way to go!

Hiro's bared teeth reflect the frustrations you express in describing what happened with the image Chris. Sometimes with the environment (any of them) it is better to have it further back into the background giving more leeway for birds and things and even charging bulls. Then adjusting the camera to suit. Another thing you can do is use an image for the background and use a floor plane (flattened square) and some props instead. It's just a matter of playing around with it until you are happy. You have an interesting finish with the grass in the front left corner - I like that.
