Description

Here is another shot from a diff angle. I wish I got them ast they was putting the dird in the hole. I was not thinking about it. I was just shooting something I never saw. First funeral I been too cent my Mother died and that was a long time ago. No one called me to tell me about my anutes and uncles dieing into it was months later. even years on some of them. I ask why they did not called me. No clear answers. Hope I was not that bad when I was growing up lol. Yes I know the person who die and it was my future mother in law. My son is in the far right of the montor. They shove about 20 shove full each before the grave digger with his backhoe came and did the rest of the job. I was talking to the grave digger before the pawbearers started to do they thing here. He told me it was a volunteer thing to dig the grave. When I saw the pawbearers shoveing the dirt I say "someone is takeing your job" He got up to look and he went to get the backhoe. He told me he like to put the dirt by shove around the casket first then use the backhoe to do the rest. I saw all those shoves so I thought this was plan by someone. Oh the grave digger say he waite for every one to leave first but as you see the action here things was a little diff ever for aroumd these parts of the country. thanks for every thing comments and looking guess this is a good genre to put this in

I didn't comment on the first funeral image because I was a little uncomfortable with it. If the family is okay with the pics and them being put on the net, I guess it is okay. My kids and family know I don't care what they do when I die because I will not be there. I'll be in heaven. I don't want my kids visiting a grave site of poor ole daddy because I am not there. That red clay looks like the same dirt we have in this part of the country.

I agree with skiwillgee, touchy subject matter, but I prefer this POV to the first one. ~Cheers~

Jocko, now I understand. This is relatives putting in the first dirt to fill the grave. In first image, I thought the cemetary folks were doing the work and wondered why with shovels. We do not do this here, we leave and the backhoe comes in. I will be cremated and no dirt needed. My ashes will be enough dirt for someone who may want to keep them. Thanks for the added posts.

I thought in Louisiana they buried the dead above the ground because of the high water table?

Another very candid capture. Funerals are not very pleasant, not only because of the loss of a loved one, but serves as a stark reminder of our own mortality.

It agree with goodoldboy, a reminder on death for us. I was born in 1952, young never thought of it. Now even more often started to come from such places.. Likely it comes with the years.

I carried my grandmother the last few yards with my cousins. The undertaker had his own men to do it but we felt it was something we wanted to do. Filling the hole was not on our agenda.

I'm still a little confused on whos funeral this is. You say your future mother-in-law? Any way another candid and interest slice of reality Jock.
