Description

A bit of serendipity. I was actually down in the dumps because I squandered an opportunity to photograph the English Sparrows nesting in the birdhouse in the back yard. I took almost 100 shots, but none of them came out worth a tinker's damn. Well, today, I arrive home from work to find this little guy knocking on our front door. He didn't seem injured, but had not yet fledged apparently. I had a devil of a time keeping him close by while I unloaded the camera, but I was rewarded for my meager efforts. I managed to shoot him through the dense foliage of the camelia without really a good angle. I couldn't really even insure he was centered in the frame due to how low I had to get to get under the leaves. Details: Canon EOS Rebel Xti, Sigma DG APO 70-300mm Macro Aperture Priority mode Shutter/exposure time: 1/50th Aperture: f/6.3 Zoom: 300mm (Macro) ISO: 800 Metering: Partial Exposure compensation: +1.3 step Luck: in full force! (edit: For reference, this picture is uncropped. The full picture is 10.1 megapixels big! (Thanks to the 300mm zoom) One good caption & this baby's a wall mural! *heh heh*)
