Description
Captured 5/3/07, in the Pavilion of Wings, located on the lovely premises of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, which, incidentally, is adjacent to the University of Southern California and the LA Coliseum.
As you can see, the left wing on this little fella/lady is not exactly in the most pristine condition. This could be the result of either a birth defect, getting snagged in the flora, a crash landing, or air to air combat.
Enjoy the down slope of the work week!

OR... escaping the eager little grasp of a curious and precocious child... Did you inspect it carefully for traces of peanut-butter and jelly smudges? I'd be suspicious. :-) Nice shot of this little battle-worn butterfly. And the flower it's standing on is pretty too.

What a golden find, ruffled a bit but still beautifully shimmering on a sun.

I'm yet to spot a perfect butterfly - for the few I have seen, most of them look battle-damaged sigh!! Lovely colours to this little butty though - you make me envious.... I must find more butties!!! Great shot Harry. xx
