Description

Hi all you wonderful Rositeers. I have been admiring Buzz69 latest trend in doing abstracts. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Sadly, I've still got some to go before I reach his level of this art form. This exact setup is available in my download free stuff on my home page, if you happen to want it. It's for Bryce 5.5 but can be imported to Bryce 6.1 easy enough This image uses two Meta-balls, one white radial light set for cast shadows, no falloff, brightness = 10. Also I added two lumpy torus, from the std Bryce inventory. Sky Lab: Set sky to starry Sky. Then turn everything off, except shadows.. set at 50% with sun set at noon position. Material Lab: Set everything off. Set reflection to 100%. Set all colors to white. Set Specularity and Metalicity to your preference. Set top diffusion color to a color for brightness and tint. Go middle blue on first try. (Apply this to all solid objects as you add them.) Details: Add a meta ball. Enlarge to about 8 times ground plane grid. Delete ground plane grid.. Now stretch meta-ball to be about 4 times longer than it is wide. (in z direction) Aim Camera to north (top when viewed from above) and move it north about 1/4 way from center to north end of meta ball. Now add another meta ball and make fairly large. Move it to far north end (again top when viewed from above) so it is just almost touching main meta ball. The two meta balls will merge and make a connecting tunnel during render time. Play with this part for some neat effects of tunnel size and direction, etc. Now add any geometric object(s). In my case two lumpy torus. One at the bottom of the main Meta ball and one in the tunnel at the top formed by meta-balls merging. The one at the bottom will appear at the top and on the sides due to reflections inside the primary meta-ball. Finally, tweak the material for each object and the meta-balls for desired color mixes and render. With such high amount of reflections, expect it to take awhile. Play with surface bumps if you like. Try procedural Gels in the radial lamp. Sky's the limit.. Also, I opened the viewing angle on the main camera to take in more of the surroundings than normal. About two clicks on the minus button, lower right, with main camera as view. Hope you like my image and this little TUT. Go visit Buzz69's gallery to see a real pro at work. I'll be gone all next week to NYC on Business. I'll be back around the 3rd of July in time for the 4th. Hugs and blessings to all and may your 4th be safe and sane. Dave :^) ***********************************************************
