Description
Yes, another view of the eerie day after a huge asteroid hits the earth, causing unbelievable destruction, desolation and havoc; or, in another scenario, this could be the famed astronomer Carl Sagan's prophetic vision of the planet after a worldwide atomic missile exchange, which he termed, a "Nuclear Winter."
Captured 3/8/07 at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, which contains 300 acres of restored wetlands, located in of all places, beautiful Huntington Beach, California. The reserve supports waterfowl such as avocets, egrets, plovers and the endangered least terns. I walked the entire 4-mile round trip dirt trail during my photo shoot, encountering nary a soul along the way. Hard to believe this is part of beautiful Huntington Beach.
Actually, to be fair, the first 3/4ths of a mile along the wetlands is nice, neat and picturesque, is in good condition, and devoid of all the dead trees, branches and scrub brush that I came upon further down the trail.
In contrast to The Day After - #1, I manipulated the colors on this one after I applied the filter.
That said, the postwork on this capture was so much fun that I fear it could become addictive.
Have yourself a lovely day today.

A very disturbing image. And that means it is excellent. The colors are alarming and the images within the photo are distressing with just the right amount of light to accent different objects of despair. The sky is frightening. Good job.

Pray continue, my dear! Your postwork is wonderful. I like the reflections in the water, and the scorched earth feel to the whole thing. At any moment I expect two figures in haz-mat suits to enter, stage right, using a geiger counter. (Camera pans to the right.)
