Description

Another unusual flower from Ann's wonderful garden. I called her last night to ask her what the name of this plant is - she usually has far more information than I ever need. She said, "Oh I don't know - I just call it lipstick!" So there you have it. ............... I made the image nice and big, so if you look at it in full view, you'll be able to see each photo in a larger format. (Sorry Harry!) .............. .............. Edit note: Thanks so much to rockstrider for identifying this flower! He has informed me that it is actually a member of the Alliaceae family, and is called "Brodiaea ida-maia." I verified the information, and am quite satisfied that he is 100% correct. Thanks, Carl!

They do kind of remind me of bombpops. A most unusual flower. Beautifully photographed and presented. Ann has a wonderful garden of such diverse plants.

They look fantastic, great colours, I don't think they are Clivia nobilis though, you can check here http://www.cliviasociety.org/clivia_nobilis.php I have some Iris's in the garden, the seed pods after flowering look similar but are all green, this is not a seed pod but a beautiful flower! +++
