Description
After two litters of unwanted wild kittens were born at the stable where I board my horse, my daughter and I rushed to find homes for them. My daughter took three, I took one, and we finally found homes for all of them. Unfortunately, most kittens (as well as other unwanted pets and horses) end up being killed because there are no homes for them. Here in Michigan, in Genessee County alone, 1000's of litters of kittens and puppies are automatically put to sleep because people will not or can not pay to have their pets spayed or neutered. Unwanted horses usually ended up in slaughter houses - now, because of the ban on exporting horsemeat - people are leaving their horses to die of starvation. For some reason, people believe they can treat their pets as throw-aways. So sad.

It's nice to know there is this Guardian Angel looking out for the un-wanted pets ! I get my pets from the Animal shelters and they come de-sexed. I just wish more could be saved ! ~Cheers~

Beautiful image. It sickens me to see animals abandoned and abused. There should be stricter laws to deal with people who do these kinds of things and bless you for taking the time to find homes for those kittens. It is people like you who make a difference in the lives of these animals and as an animal lover I thank you for that.

Beautiful image Sherrie! Its so sad that we have become a nation with out any sense of responsibility for our actions... not only do we treat animals without any respect... but people as well! In a nation that claims to be the moral leader of the world, how could ten fourteen year old boys rape and torture a woman for hours, forcing her pre-teen son watch, and participate! This happened only a few days ago here in West Palm Beach... they caught one of them, but the others are still on the loose!

I always though that in my country/society people are less interested in animal life than in other western countries with so many animal right associations and organisations. But what you describe here it is rather cruel and quite a shock for me. Of course we are not better. I am quite upset with the behaviour of my fellow citizens who when they don't want to keep an animal they abandon it. Its a disgrace to see the streets full of abandoned dogs trying to find something to eat. Beautiful composition :)

This is great. Excellent pic. Sad but true your story. I know so many sad story's about unwanted animals you would not believe. Animals who had a horrible live behind. Some i can help, some not. But it is always very hard and sad to see how people are treating our best friends.

Unfortunately Sherrie, we live in a throw away society. We will be judged on how we treat our children, elderly and animals. So sad! A beautiful image.

Wonderful image! Superb lighting and effects! Very sad concerning the animals you describe, we try to do our bit as a family too where we live. We have 7 cats all from unwanted litters, except one who adopted us (walked 200 miles from his home and moved in with us! His previous family didn't want him anymore).
