Description
A long time since I uploaded any image. Now I have several projects. I hope to put this one as LW 7.5 free stuff on the Net. However, I`m still not satisfied with the quality of metal materials, especially the copper / brass of the stove. Any help would be appreciated...
Both objects are real - life. The stove is based on old - fashioned spirit stoves produced by Primus and other companies at the beginning of the curr... phew, previous century. How is the time speeding... :P Actually, it is an assembly of a burner and body found on different photographs, so I`m not perfectly sure if there was one looking exactly like this.
The lamp is more realistic. It is modeled against a photo of my father`s one, set as a blueprint. These lamps were still in use in Poland in 1980s, providing position light for peasant wagons and (as we used it) on tourist boats and yachts. It still stands in my kitchen recalling these lovely times ;) The label on its bottom (not yet implemented here) says "Jupiter - 1". For sure, it was not as bright ;) and, what was worse, leaked horribly. I still remember the smell of the kerosene:)

They don't look that old......wait......(remembers age, and when he last used one of them.....does the maths...) Dang. OK so they are an oldish kind of thing. But I beat they'd still work great. Pagrin :-)

Well... In this version they are brand new. I think about making an old, worn off ver, too.

nice modelling work. Maybe this links can help you a little bit: http://www.the-worms-of-art.com/Tutorials/ (the frensnel tutorial) http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/Procedural_Texturing/mapping_01.asp

Thanks! The second link seems perfect. Will try when I have more than a blink of time...

Here are some copper textures for you to play with: http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/texture_colour/copper/ and these suggestions for metal textures are from the Worms of Art. Their ready-made textures might be just what you are looking for, or, if you'd rather play, check out their awesome metal texture tutorials: http://www.the-worms-of-art.com/index.html This project, rendered as beautifully as you usually do, should be worth doing. Especially, since it seems to have some emotional context for you as well. So get on with it! :-D Hope this helps.

Thanks! Though it seems to be a problem with material settings rather than with the textures themselves. I know Worms, though I
m going to make these objects available for free download, so using their image maps would not be the best idea... Currently I
m refining the materials in another project - maybe loaded with less emotional context, but more funny;)gattone_blu
