Description
This Long Beach Yellow Cab was captured 10/29/06, at the Auto & Copter Expo held annually at the beautiful Armed Forces Reserve Center in beautiful Los Alamitos, California.
I haven't the foggiest what make or year this model is, but considering the hand crank at the front, it must be from the 1920s or possibly earlier. Also, it appears to have an engine or radiator leak, which the cabbie or owner should attend to.
Among other things, I like those awesome wheels, and that antiquated phone number. BTW, I believe hemlock is what killed Socrates.
Thanks for any and all kind and uncritical comments.

You found a great taxi! The size and the weight of this jewel must be incredibly massive. Equal to more than one of my Ford Escort. It looks so sturdy but then, maybe its your wonderful photographing techniques and skill that give it that solid look. In spite of the crowds you got a nice clean shot of it with undisturbed detail. Good one!

The good old days, weren't they great. I remember taking yellow cab, but not this old of a model. Nice capture. Aloha

Crank start and all, what a beaut! Perhaps an MG? Either way, a nicely captured old girl. 3ยข a mile? ;']

Richardphotos: Oh yeah? Cars in auto shows are supposed to be in perfect tiptop shape, with no problems, leaking or otherwise.

When I was a tyke, our first phone number was TRiangle 10495. We didn't drop those prefixes in these parts until the mid to late 1970s. So there you have it. I'm older than 33! But I wasn't around when this vehicle was new, either. Great shot, by the way! I like the wheels, too.

It looks a lot like a mid '20's Luxor. The steel wheels, headlights and body style are a close match to the reference pic I have. Not sure of the exact year. A lot of cars of the period had electric start but retained the crank through the thirties "just in case".

What a sweet ride this was and still is I bet. I wasn't around when this car was built and never rode in one (although I did own a '49 Cadillac Ambulance for a few years - lol), but I sure like it. Great shot. Thanks for sharing. Lee

Fantastic capture of this vintage classic Harry. I admit that the name of the company was the first thing that caught my eye and thought it an unusual name - would you want to take a ride in a cab from a company with that name?? I'm sure I wouldn't, however, I wouldn't mind a ride in it now. Excellent clear shot with superb details. xx
