Description

Finally at the top of Mt. Defiance!! All the views so far have been to the north, because the trail goes up the north side of the mountain. But in the last few hundred meters it swings around to the south side, and at the top there is no view to the north at all. But that's ok, because now we get to see Mt. Hood from a very good vantage point. If you drew a line from Mt. Adams to Mt. Hood, Mt. Defiance would be on it, so this is looking in the opposite direction from the shot of Mt. Adams two days ago. The sky isn't very interesting in the photo, but it wasn't very interesting in real life, either. :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This is my favorite picture of this series so far, although I've enjoyed them all. Mt. Hood never ceases to amaze me with its beauty. Thank you for taking us on your journey. Where are we going next?

Impressive shot mate! Strange how the haze in this is actually something that I like it really adds something special to the image. Well captured and thanks for sharing #;0)

Where we're going next... Ok, take a look at the two clouds on the left side of the picture. See the bump just to the right of the right cloud? There's a saddle just to the right of that. That's where I'll be this Saturday. It's called Cooper Spur, for anyone who wants to look it up. It's a shorter hike than Mt. Defiance, but it starts at around 5500 ft and ends around 8500, so it's not exactly a walk in the park. :~)

Not interesting in real life?! I would think this to be a breath taking sight, one of complete awe. Thanx for sharing.

I suddenly feel the need for oxygen!! What an amazingly breath-taking shot. I think I would have wanted to sit up there for hours and just take it all in. Wonderfully captured Dennis and good luck at Cooper Spur on Saturday. Hugs. xx

My friend, I will owe you much more than a bag of gorp for your troubles! You've earned several bags of gourmet trail mix from Trader Joe's for these most excellent images! This shot of Mount Hood is just gorgeous. I read a brief description of the Mt. Defiance hike. They said it was "grueling," and "the hardest hike in the Gorge."

I am so glad you 'defied' all the difficulty and made it to the top so we can all see these magnificent sights! It looks like you had high cloud cover, but the clouds on the shoulders of the mountain do add a nice touch of interest. Thanks!

What a view you captured, Dennis. I am so glad we all can come along with you on your hikes. A superb capture, once more. The colours and the scene are quite simply breataking! Diane.
