I'm a software engineer by day. I spend my time pushing ones and zeros around, which is not as easy as it sounds. They're slippery little devils.BIOI discovered fractals in the mid 80's with Fractint on what must have been a 25 MHz processor. Around 2001 I upgraded all the way from 400 MHz to 1.8 GHz, and thought about making fractals again. I discovered Fractal Explorer, and later XenoDream. These days I use mostly XD and MBF, with an occasional image from ChaosPro and Quasz, since I've always loved quaternions.
For my photography I use a Canon 30D. My primary lenses are a Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF DO IS USM and a Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM.

Beautiful landscape, excellent captured. Interesting to see it in two versions. Very well done!

Outstanding scene and the post work made it very interesting. I think I prefer the B/W. The colors are nice but the other has more impact for me.

You are absolutely right, Dennis. This would make a wonderful B&W. Try a slow animated gif, switching between a high contrast B&W and the beautiful lushness of the deep greens. Or better yet, a Flash fade. Dennis, as you know, there are fantastic photographic opportunities during a rain, especially in an environment like your's. I know you have "the stuff" to take advantage of such conditions, so go get us some extraordinary eyecandy, please. We're counting on you!!

Very excellent!! Well done!!

I like them both. Don't make me choose! The lake looks very shallow and inviting!

What a beautiful shot of this tranquil lake Dennis. Although I love the colours with the varying greens, I do admit to having a stronger preference to the B&W version - it just seems to be that much more striking to the eye. Excellent capture. xx

Loooks like the paradise of a fisherman. For me better in B&W.

Nope, didn't understand a word of it, but I like the outcome. I like the colored version the most but that is because I'm not a huge fan of B&W.

It's interesting to see the B&W continuing into the color side with the gray scree in the background and the bleached out tree trunks lining the shore! Very clever :) A lovely lake.

Well, this is very different. I like it. And I agree with the others. I love seeing your shots from your hikes. Beautiful country out there.

I am sitting here smilling. You have given it a try and I am glad. I hope that you will at some point take the plunge so to speak and try creating a complete B/W phtograph. Just remember you want more of an over cast day to be able to achieve all levels or at least most levels of white to black, for right now in this photograph there are still a few too many hot spots. Thank you for sharing. egmont

Nice combination shot.
