Description
I dedicate this to Kipweb as he offered me advice about a Sigma telephoto lens and this is one of many captures already.I never got a good shot of a large bird and without the lens, I would still not have one. I am not using a tripod or monopod, but I did brace myself against a bridge railing.
thanks so much for your many comments and visits

Outstanding work! With that tele and no tripod, you must have a real good hand ;-)

Good to see you joining the birders here.. Nice close up so the Bigma has done well.. A faster shutter speed may help as this large bird on the small branch will have been moving..

Green herons are hard to see. They are not all that big and roost in trees. I saw my first one at Sargeant's Park.

Excellent capture! From what I know of the herrings we have here, a difficult bird to get close to so I have never seen one in such detail before. :O)
