I dedicate this to Kipweb as he offered me advice about a Sigma telephoto lens and this is one of many captures already.I never got a good shot of a large bird and without the lens, I would still not have one. I am not using a tripod or monopod, but I did brace myself against a bridge railing. thanks so much for your many comments and visits

Turned out fantastic! My lenses are Nikon mount Sigmas. I have been very happy with them. Need to actually upload some photos. When you used to do it as part of your job it loses some charm, LOL!

Oh, I am so jealous!! I have yet to catch a green heron and you were lucky enough to see one!! Is this somewhere near Dallas??? I thought one had to be near the coast to see them!!
