Description
A second, darker view from inside the old fort at the foot of Mobile Bay. Shot earlier this month, the full story of the fort can be found on the first fort post, Return to Fort Morgan
Used a tri-pod with camera at a very slow shutter speed. Thanks for stopping by!

A magnificent capture, Marshall. Love the quiet in your capture, powerful mood. I can almost hear the silent voices of the past looking upon this work. Outstanding photography. Diane.

I was there! It was the last thing I did in the States before I PCS'ed to Korea. This brings back the memory; the whole place smelled like bricks and salt. That dark arch you see is, if i recall correctly, a severly constricted stairway that's too short for normal people, with no good handrails, it's incredibly steep and narrow, and probably leads to a water-filled room that we couldn't go into because, well, it was filled with water. Part of the Ft. Morgan story is that someone botched some plans or some such and the place flooded at high tide. It's pretty spooky down there, and I couldn't help but wonder how in the hell you could move so many men around in such a cramped space when the shells started to fly. OSHA would have had a fit at Ft. Morgan. Thanks for sharing the photos.
