Commentary: Even an abstract one does not paint alta prima or casually without giving
the concept some serious thought. As the idea is being executed on canvas and even when
one thinks it is finished, the painting is studied further. For of the three paintings I thought
I had finished a week ago, I now find myself going over two of them, fine tuning if you
will, so that which was visualized in the mind is realized in paint and on canvas.
In the meantime it was another quick trip to the local countryside yesterday, in the hope of
photographing a group of trees within a gulch, just as the warm fading sunlight would
scatters across the land close to the ground, drenching all in its wake with its soft amber
glow. I found I was a little too late, for the opposite hillside had cast a long shadow on the
foreground of the very trees, which were my objective, as they were being toned in a warm
light. I took a number of exposures and continued my walk, using the camera as my
sketchbook.
Further along the path the deer had made with there daily trips to higher ground, there
stands a barn, now out of commission and used as a bird study and sanctuary. It had not
been my intention to have another visit at the barn, but I also could not stop, as I was being
pulled into that direction.
After a few photographs of the main open area of the barn, the eye moved off to the side,
where a smaller sliding door rested shut, but casual like against its frame. By now the sun
had dropped lower, while caressing the woods texture, I hurried, setting up my tripod and
going to work at a fevers pace, in order to make every moment count.
Back home I worked for the next six and a half hours on the ten images I had edited from
the barn, selecting the final best three. Enjoy!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting. Vielen danke das sie die Zeit genommen haben meine Arbeit zu betrachten und darauf zu Kommentieren. Egmont
